INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER | ÅSA JOHANSSON

I majorly stuffed up and this month and in the mist of final exams I forgot to hit share on this months International Guest Designer.  I am sooooooo Sorry.

But I still have today to share,
Please welcome Åsa Johannson to Scrap the Girls this month.

Hi! My name is Åsa Johansson and I come from Sweden. I live in the middle of Sweden with my family of 5, or actually six with the dog. I work as a teacher. I was so thrilled when Krisy asked me to be a guest designer at Scrap the Girls. I love this blog and have participated in their challenges. I´ve been a scrapper since 2007 when I was pregnant with my twin girls (in the photo of my page). I´m really addicted to this hobby. It makes me able to relax, do something creative, get to know new friends and so on.... And I get to practice my english which isn´t that good (hope you understand me). The list over good things with scrapping is so long. I do layouts and cards mostly. My style is CAS and I love to use the color pink (that mood board was perfect for me), stiching and mist. I think that´s my signature. I design for a couple of teams and I love it! It´s a perfect way to connect world wide. I hope you like my page and that you got some inspiration to create yourself and participate in this fun challenge! Thank you so much Scrap the Girls for the opportunity to guesting you! INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #13 | TUSIA LECH

Hi Lovelies,
This month we have an International Guest Designer that plays a big part in the Scrapbooking industry.  She is the lady behind the beautiful brand that is 7dots Studio.  Please welcome Tusia Lech.

"Scrapbooking fills my whole life – it is all around me – in my private life and in my job career, as I am the owner of 7 Dots Studio and also an eager scrapbooker . I love the process of creation – I have created things since early childhood – all kinds of handmade things always attracted me. I cannot imagine my life without making some art. Even if I leave for a weekend, I always take my small “art-bag”, filled with art-journal supplies.

I love all kinds of media – if I would have to define my style, I would say that media are the only constant thing. My favourite colours are fresh, bold greens, blues and pinks, but at the same time I just love delicate, pale hues of beige, rose and white. However there is something in my projects, what can be found always – a positive, feminine style.
I am lucky enough to be a designer in a few very creative places. I love drinking coffee, reading books, walking through the forest, watching flowers on the meadow, basking in the autumn sun and being deep in my inner world. I can say that I am a happy person and wouldn’t change a single thing in my life.

"The nature of women is very complex. We are fragile but also tough. We are delicate but determined too. For my layout I have chosen a photo of mine in Halloween disguise. How often we are "in disguise" in real life... The whole composition of embellishments was meant to show the opposites, that live inside us: delicate subtle flowers, light feathers and rusty distressed metallic elements. Thank you for inviting me as Guest Designer - the moodboard is very inspiring and during my creative process many interesting thoughts came to the surface."

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #12 | WILNA FURSTENBERG

This month's Guest Designer has a very distinct style that is so beautiful and the layout she has produced for this months challenge is no exception.  I just look at it and think WOW! Please welcome Wilna Furstenberg.

Wilna is a neo-expressionistic painter turned scrapbook, digital designer, and Art Journaler who has spent years applying her background in fine arts to her passion for preserving memories. A popular online and in-class teacher, she has honed the fine art of balancing her logical and organized side with her free-spirited expressive side. And she definitely knows how to have fun along the way! Wilna has been working in the Scrapbooking Industry for 11 years and it all started when she was one of 25 winners of the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame in 2006. She designed for Making Memories, Jenny Bowlin, October Afternoon and Two Peas in a Bucket until 2013 when she started her own company called iHeartstudio. Wilna is a popular event teacher at retreats and has been fortunate to teach classes in the US, Canada, South Africa, Spain, Germany and Australia. She has taught online for Studio Calico, Big Picture Classes, Craftsy and have lots of classes on her own website iheartstudio.ca. Wilna is also a frequent guest on the Paper Clipping Roundtable.

"I created this layout as a memory for my birthday this year. I turned 46 and it's a big thank you prayer to God about His love and care in my life. I used a printable from my Primavera collection (http://iheartstudio.ca/miniclass8) and Used a stencil and molding paste to make the texture on the white background. I waited until it was dry and painted over it with watercolors. Lastly I added the flowers and photo and a tiny floral image at the bottom of the page. I love this sketch and I feel you can make many pages using it! thank you so much for inviting me to play along!"

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #11 | SANDERIJN DE BRUIN-MITTENDORF

A while back I asked out Design Team who inspires them and who they would like to see play along with us at Scrap the Girls.  This months International Guest Designer was one of the names that was suggested.  Please welcome Sanderjin de Bruin-Mittendorf to Scrap the Girls.

"Hi everybody, I am so honoured to be asked as guest designer this month!

I will tell a little bit about myself:

I am Sanderijn de Bruin, almost 40 years and mother of the best miracle ever in my life. I am married and live in The Netherlands. I am a parttime working mom.

 

I have been scrapping for almost 10 years now, but between 2011 and 2015 I hardly created anything, because the little one took all my time (and space) for a while.

 

In May 2015 we created a scraproom for me, and since then I love to be in my own little magical place, and I have created a lot!

I think, as an artist, you are always developing yourself. I am very curious about new products and techniques, I always want to try everything, and develop myself more and more.

 

My creative journey means a lot of trying out (and throwing away) but I love it when I discover new techniques and make it my own.

 

My style is not defined by one word only...I don't have any clue how to call my style, but I think it will be: elegant, balanced, colourful and eye for detail.

 

Creativity is a gift from God.

I hope I will be able to inspire others with my creations.

Here is Sanderijn's gorgeous layout.

Now,  when I sent Sanderijn the challenge, I didn't specify that the photo had to be a mother. (I forgot Sanderijn can't read minds). I said it had to be something about a mother.  And this layout is about a mothers love.  So, really it is about a mother, just out side of the box.  Just the way we here at Scrap the Girls like it.

This is what Sanderijn had to say about her layout:

"The month May is the month where we celebrate mothers day.

For me this means something to treasure, because God has given me the most precious gift of all: a child...

In my situation particularly, it didn't happen 'just like that'.

I feel so very blessed, to have this beautiful little girl in my life, who makes my heart full of joy every day. And yes, motherhood is not always easy, believe me, but seeing her growing up, makes it all worth while...

Seeing this photo of her, sunlight on her hair, she almost looks like an angel... The only thing I want for her, is to grow up in peace, having a loving home, where she feels safe and free to follow her dreams...

The new collection Dreamscape from 7 Dots Studio is exactly the paper for pictures like these.

I really love the pattern of the paper and didn't want to do too much mixed media works on it, so I decided to create a soft, elegant and clean layout.

Because sometimes one picture says it all."

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #10 | STEPHANIE BUICE

Today's International Guest Designer I have followed for a long while on Instagram and I was so excited when she agreed to play along with Scrap The Girls this month.  Please welcome Stephanie Buice.

Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie and I am thrilled to be here as a guest at Scrap The Girls. A little bit about myself and why I love scrapbooking. My husband and I live in Alabama with our 5 year old son Brady (If you follow my work at all I’m sure you know all about him), I love being a stay at home mom and getting to work here is a dream. I have been a crafter since the day I could cut with my first scissors, but involved in the industry since about 2010. Not only have I met some of my best friends this way but also have found a fun creative outlet. Thanks for having me and I hope you’ll enjoy what I have to share!

As you can probably tell, the colors of the mood board was really the main inspiration for my layout. I love the blues and teals and really wanted them to be represented well in my project. Another thing that really stood out to me was the light and airy feel of the challenge photos. The sea glass and ocean waves made me thing of vellum so I knew I also wanted to include that in some way. For my layout I cut strips from different patterned papers in the color scheme and glued them to the top and left side of my layout. Then I added in my layers and photos as well as my title and a few embellishments. My journaling was the finishing touch and I called it done! Thank you for having me here today!

I am sure you can agree that Stephanie's layout really captures the moodboard.

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #7 | VERONIQUE GAGNE

It's that time of the month that I get to introduce some new inspiration to you and today it's pretty amazing.  Our #7 International Guest Designer is Veronique Gagne.

I discovered Veronique when she entered our challenge a few months back and couldn't help but invite her to be a guest.  Her work is beautiful and the inspiration from this months moodboard is no execption.  I can't stop looking it.

So rather than just talking about it and Veronique, I'll let Veronique introduce herself.

"Hello everybody! 

My name is Veronique (Vero85 on the internet) and I'm from Montreal, Canada. 

I'm 31 years old and I live with my boyfriend of the past 12 years and our 2 cats.

I discovered scrapbooking 10 years ago and most of the time I create layouts (sometimes canvas too). 

I don't have a particular style as I like to explore but most of the time, my layouts are very vibrant and colorful! 

Right now I'm really into sprays, flairs and dies. I can't stop buying those things haha. 

This month's moodboard was really beautiful and challenging! It's my favorite kind of contest because I love seeing different interpretations of the same picture!

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #6 | LAUREEN WAEGNER

Good Morning Ladies!

This months international guest designer has been on my watch list for a long time.  She is young and she is extremely talented.  If your not following her already - go do it.  You won't be disappointed.  She has such a pretty style.  Please welcome Laureen Wagener!

Here's what Laureen has to say...

"Hi friends - before we jump over to the "Get to know that blonde girl from Germany" part I wanted to say that I am honored to guest here at Scrap the Girls! Krisy - thank you so much for asking me!

My name is Laureen, I am 22 years old and live in beautiful Germany. I did study Primary School Teaching until this February but had to take a break due to health issues and now will start school again for becoming a physiotherapist in April.

I love to scrapbook layouts as a part of relaxation but also lately for memorykeeping. Other than traditional layouts I am a cardmaking lover! I just love to give away a little smile in an envelope plus I have way too many stamps - I couldn't justify spending all that money and then never using them!

Mostly I do scrapbook pictures of my family and I, my best friend or my sister and her boyfriend, since I don't have kids.

This mood board kind of was a challenge while I tried to make something up for my layout. I really really like the gold and pink in it but don't use pink on my layouts too often, and if I do it is kept to a minimal.

I was inspired by the quote and so I had to use big paper sequins all over the page and sprinkled some gold in using gold glittery Thickers.

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #5 - RIKKA KOVASIN

Hi again,

When I am looking for different Guests to play along with our challenges, I am always blown away at the enthusiasm of our International Guests.  Our little Australian Scrapbooking Blog is not something that I think comes up on many International Scrapbookers radars and they are always keen to play along. (Thankfully I haven't had a knock back yet.  Touch wood)  This month was no exception.  Today I am so happy to introduce you to RIIKKA KOVASIN.

Riikka is a Finnish mixed media influenced crafter. She lives in Helsinki, the capital of Finland with her husband and two daughters. What she creates the most during a year is layouts, but she also enjoys tremendously creating altered pieces and canvases. You can find her from her blog, Paperiliitin, but also from other social media sources like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. "Hi there! I’m honored to guest here at Scrap the Girls! Thank you so much Krisy for asking me! Most of my pages are in fact of girls as I’m a mother of two girls!

I was inspired by the horizontal lines in the sketch and mimicked the plank-looking pattern of the background paper with the stripes – they create a balancing element to the otherwise quite horizontal design. I also cut a couple of banners and placed them underneath the photo like they are in the sketch.

The topic of the page are my two girls. In the photo they are playing with a big wooden horse in Häme castle this summer. We went there for a little summer trip and both of the little ones enjoyed the exhibition and the old building very much.

Today is International Guest Designer day.  Today's designer is pretty amazing, you are going to love her. Please welcome Gerry van Gent.

"My name is Gerry van Gent. I’m a Bulgarian woman who lives in The Netherlands. Married to Arjen - my supportive Dutch hubby and a mother to two kids who are often smiling on my projects. Since 2009 I got seriously involved into paper crafting and designed for many leading companies like Prima Marketing, Webster’s Pages, Glitz Design, Sizzix, etc. I have been also published in Dutch and International magazines. I am currently designing for 49 and Market company and making exclusive video’s for The Scrapbook Diaries.

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #3 - DEEDEE CATRON

Hi Everyone,
Today I am sharing our third International Guest Designer.  When I contacted this lady I was a bit hesitant.  She is busy, she is international and what would she care that I am looking for Guest Designers for my little Australian based online challenge blog.  I hesitated before I hit send on the email but then thought was what have I got to lose?  She can just say no right?!  Within minutes I had a reply.  And thankfully she was excited to play along.  So today I am so excited to share with you - DeeDee Catron.  I have been watching DeeDee for a while now on Instagram and Facebook and maybe, probably have a little bit of a girl crush.

Who is DeeDee? She is a mixed media artist, instructor and designer from Las Vegas, USA.  She is the Owner/Creative Director of UmWowStudio, the Marketing and Artistic Director for Viva Las VegaStamps! and a Product Designer for 7 Dots Studio.  Her work is just stunning and I am so glad she is here with us today.
