OMG - DECEMBER is here | "NOT FOR TRADITION"

How has this happened....December already!  This months challenge is SIMPLE.  Trust me...I am thinking..what was I thinking when I set this....

Here it is...

I think, I was thinking...Simplicity, Australiana, neutrals...but OMG.....Not when I had to put my page together.  The DT came to my aid reminding me that it allowed them to think outside of the box and create layouts so very different to each other...and they did....

No traditions on this Christmas page! I decided to buck the trend against the neutral tones of the inspiration image and go with bright colour instead. I used a wreath design as my nod to Christmas, and also included a wood veneer piece (painted gold) that includes a gum leaves (and my favourite sentence enhancer!) for my title.
" very cold snowing Christmas is certainly the complete opposite to how we celebrate here in Australia."

I went a bit rogue on this one... I really couldn’t manage the natural tones and simplicity of the mood board... so I picked out some elements like the leaves and the word Christmas and included those!

"The gum leaf and stone reminds me of the Aussie bush and country towns"

" This was a group effort between my youngest daughter and I"

"Love the natural colours, although my little reindeer in color clashed a little! Easy fix swapping to black and white photo though."

"This is my december layout, i really love playing with this colors for a Christmas layout"
I was inspired by the colour scheme and also the simplicity of the image and the white space.
Who doesn't love Christmas? Who loves scrapping Christmas? Me....I love both so I took great pleasure in creating this page. My girl Holly has been wearing the same shirt christmas morning for the past 8 years (she secretly never wants to grow out of it ). Merry Christmas All....
Inspired by the Olive green tones in the image and that clean white background for my Christmas themed page.

OMG..  I'll tell you what... this DT didn't once complain about this challenge. But I was the last one dragging in my layout and struggling with inspiration.  I am so pleased with the variety of inspiration and the fact that everyone thought outside of the box.  I can't wait to see what you all come up with.

NOVEMBER CHALLENGE - "THE HANGOVER"

Pinch and a punch this month is sure to bring up some memories, laughs and perhaps a bit of regret :).
This challenge is called "The Hangover"  You choose your poison....Books, Retreat, Alcohol.

Here are the Design teams layouts for your viewing pleasure!

Lazy Friday afternoons and double vodkas...let's call this "journey to a hangover".
Besides being inspired by the alcohol theme, I also drew inspiration for my colour palette and design from the arrows in the book hangover image.
Sue

"This is my hangover....wine and a good cheese platter. I must confess, I enjoy making a cheese platter nearly as much as I enjoy sharing one with friends."
"This was a hangover you’d never want... stuck in a different city, no personal transport, with a kid that just played her heart out at state titles and then busted her knee. Certainly made the rest of our trip difficult - Uber’s, taxis, borrowed wheel chairs, and lots of ice cream to make us feel better. Not a holiday we’ll forget in a hurry!"
"I had diffuculty with this challenge. I do not drink alcohol, I do not read or really watch TV. Then, a few weeks ago I caught this nasty cold that left me k.o. I took the opportunity to take a selfie of my face feverish, with a filter snap chat bonus! Do not be afraid of ridicule !!"
"I don't drink much usually but I do enjoy a cold beer after a hot day sightseeing!
I was also inspired by the circular theme of the book hangover."

"Literal Hangover and Retreat in one!"

"Friends having fun! Live for today!"

"This is my november layout and i choose the book hangover. My favorite author is Amelie Dubois and all thé chick lit book."
"My hangover is dealing with little miss sugar rush... OR dealing with little miss coming down from a sugar rush!"
"I love taking pics of the kids at their worst... this is what it looks like 'hungover' on drugs after having all your wisdom teeth out... she was such a cheery little soul."
"So.....when you go out you feel #classyaf, then you get “messy” and then there’s the “next day”. What a cycle it is, I just don’t recommend it the night before Mother’s Day 😂😂. I was also inspired by the circle and spills of wine "🍷
"Inspired by the 'Book Hangover' image to document my daughters love of books."

This months sponsor Cut 2 You. Make sure you put your country in your name link to be in the draw for a prize.

Scrap Accent is also board again this month.  Make sure you head over and check out what they have on offer this month.

Can't wait to see your layouts and read your stories.

2020 DESIGN TEAM CALL

Hi Lovelies...

it is that time of the year that I need to start getting organised for 2020.  We have a few spots opening up here at Scrap the Girls for some new members to join the team.

If you are interested here is what you need to know:

This is probably the most important point...
- You will have to complete 1 layout per month, this is to be submitted to the Design Team Facebook page with your footer attached by the 25th of the month before.

-The current DT term finishes at the end of January so your first layout will be shared in February 2020 and your term will continue until January 2021. You will be given all your challenges for 2020 in January after the current DT is finished.

-Open to everyone regardless of age or location.  We do everything online so you must have a Facebook account and the ability to add a footer to your layout through whatever program you choose.  No watermarks are to be used.  Also no blurred or covered photos.  It is also preferred you use actual photos and not magazine images.

-The challenges for the whole year are shared at the beginning of the year so you will have exclusive access that will allow you to plan and stay ahead of your commitments. These are not to be shared outside of the Design Team Facebook Page. It is always appreciated if you share your layout and link Scrap the Girls on your Social Media.

-I also ask that you go in an spread some love, only once a month, on the entries on the blog.  Leave a comment, spread some positivity.  You don't have to comment on them all but 5 or 6 would be ideal.  I know when I was starting out these comments meant the world to me and you never know how some encouragement can brighten someone else's day.

I am fairly laid back and am open to your interpretation of challenges, there are no set rules.  I just ask that you are punctual and honest.  I am a full time student and mother and run this blog in my own time without any financial rewards so I just want a team that is awesome, creates great pages and gets stuff done without me having to chase you.  I just want to sit down and get everything sorted in one hit, not over 3 days.

So, if this interests you please message me through the Facebook page with an introduction about you, what your favourite thing to include on your layouts is and why you love STG.  Plus an example of your work.  If you have one an Instagram or Blog is a good link to include.  Please also include your country/location. NOTE: no previous DT experience is required. The team and I will work with you to make it as easy as possible.

Please note: I will contact everyone to let you know if you were successful or not.  No uncertainty here.  Call closes 12th December 2019.

I can't wait to see your work.
