INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #3 - DEEDEE CATRON

Hi Everyone,
Today I am sharing our third International Guest Designer.  When I contacted this lady I was a bit hesitant.  She is busy, she is international and what would she care that I am looking for Guest Designers for my little Australian based online challenge blog.  I hesitated before I hit send on the email but then thought was what have I got to lose?  She can just say no right?!  Within minutes I had a reply.  And thankfully she was excited to play along.  So today I am so excited to share with you - DeeDee Catron.  I have been watching DeeDee for a while now on Instagram and Facebook and maybe, probably have a little bit of a girl crush.

Who is DeeDee? She is a mixed media artist, instructor and designer from Las Vegas, USA.  She is the Owner/Creative Director of UmWowStudio, the Marketing and Artistic Director for Viva Las VegaStamps! and a Product Designer for 7 Dots Studio.  Her work is just stunning and I am so glad she is here with us today.

Here's what DeeDee had to say and her Layout:

"I am so super excited to be here with you today -- Scrap the Girls is such a fun and inspiring challenge.  I loved dedicating a page to just my art sister and me.  I chose to take a super artsy approch to this 12x12 using Gelli Arts and Range Ink / Dina Wakley printed papers, UmWowStudio chipboard, Liquitex, Golden and Blick mediums and more"

Oh and here are some close ups...

My artistic goal is to be able to create messy scribble writing as awesome as this.

Yet again we have a totally different take on the sketch. I told you it was a good one and everyone has seen it differently.  Make sure you load your take on the challenge to the link up to win one of the elusive D-lish Scraps Just Add Paper Packs.

Home Grown Guest Designer #3 - SEPTEMBER 2016 FIONA PALTRIDGE

If you follow my blog you will know I am a very big Fan Girl for Fiona Paltridge.  So when I asked her to be the #3 guest design for Scrap the Girls and she said "yes", I was so freaking excited.

If you have been living under a rock and you don't know who Fiona is then here's a bit about her from the lady herself....

"I have always been an artistic person. Even as a child, I remember some of the most exciting gifts I received being a paint set and some aquarelle colour pencils. I’ve been blessed my whole life to be surrounded by encouraging and inspiring women, my mother and grandmother, who were artists themselves and always encouraged me to explore my artistic dispositions. Only recently have I discovered the online world of art sharing, tutorials and social pages for inspiration. I was very keen to join this world of so many amazing and varied artists and so, as an avid scrapbooker, I entered challenges and applied for design teams and in no time at all, I was completely absorbed in the design environment and enjoying meeting and chatting on line to so many talented people from all around the world. Each and everyone of them has supported my growth to where I am today. It has been such a breath of fresh air for me. Coming from a small country town in Australia where the focus is primarily on sporting accolades not artistic success, I finally found an avenue to reach out to like minded people with ease. I am so honoured and proud to be a part of such an innovative collaboration of art and artists around the world. Enjoy your journey and strive for more adventure xx"

And here is Fee's awesome take on the layout...

I love all this mixed media that this sketch has inspired.  Thank you Fee for Guesting for us.

AUGUST MOODBOARD WINNER

Hi Everyone....I know it's only the 8th of the month, I'm not sure if it is just me but it seems like September is just flying. I just realised that I hadn't posted last months winner. (I like to have this done by the 5th - just so you know).

Well, the "blue" moodboard proved very popular and there were some pretty awesome entries. Even a few Pocket Pages which is nice. Pocket pages are scrapbooking and feel free to be inspired and load your entries in when we have a moodboard challenge. I don't think they quite work with sketches :)

So, let's get on with it...August's Moodboard Challenge winner of the $25 Colour Blast Australia Voucher is .....

Barb Turner

I love the use of the bold patterned paper and the mixed media.  Not to mention the photo strip.  I see so many people ask how to scrap these.  Well this is it!

Barb please message me via the Facebook page or email popleopod@gmail.com to claim your prize.

Thank you to Colour Blast Australia for supporting Scrap the Girls last month.  It is greatly appreciated.  If you haven't tried Colour Blast yet head over to the online store and pick some up.

Don't forget to link up for this months Sketch challenge.  I can't wait to see how everyone interprets it.

Happy making stuff.
