HOMEGROWN GUEST DESIGNER #17 | JUDY WILLEY

It's the middle of the month and that means it is time to share another Homegrown Guest Designer with you.   Please welcome Judy Willey.

"I am so honoured to be guest designer for STG this month. I have been scrapping for many years and have tried lots of different techniques over the times - mixed media is definitely my fav at the moment. However I hope that I have maintained a focus on documenting life's moments for myself and my family. I live in tropical north Queensland with my husband. We see our children and grandchildren often and they feature in much of my work. The saying “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world” really struck a chord for me. My daughter in law has just hung up her basketball boots after a wonderful career taking her all around the world, so this layout is for her. "

And here is Judy's layout... I really love it and what it represents.
Thank you Judy for taking time to design this awesome layout for STG. To see more of Judy's awesome work check out her blog - http://judywblog.wordpress.com

Make sure you have linked up your layouts via the blog or Facebook page to go in the running to win one of the awesome prizes this month.

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER | ÅSA JOHANSSON

I majorly stuffed up and this month and in the mist of final exams I forgot to hit share on this months International Guest Designer.  I am sooooooo Sorry.

But I still have today to share,
Please welcome Åsa Johannson to Scrap the Girls this month.

Hi! My name is Åsa Johansson and I come from Sweden. I live in the middle of Sweden with my family of 5, or actually six with the dog. I work as a teacher. I was so thrilled when Krisy asked me to be a guest designer at Scrap the Girls. I love this blog and have participated in their challenges. I´ve been a scrapper since 2007 when I was pregnant with my twin girls (in the photo of my page). I´m really addicted to this hobby. It makes me able to relax, do something creative, get to know new friends and so on.... And I get to practice my english which isn´t that good (hope you understand me😃). The list over good things with scrapping is so long. I do layouts and cards mostly. My style is CAS and I love to use the color pink (that mood board was perfect for me), stiching and mist. I think that´s my signature. I design for a couple of teams and I love it! It´s a perfect way to connect world wide. I hope you like my page and that you got some inspiration to create yourself and participate in this fun challenge! Thank you so much Scrap the Girls for the opportunity to guesting you! I loved it!!! Hugs Åsa

HOMEGROWN GUEST DESIGNER #15 | FARREL TAYLOR

Hi Everyone,
How are you all going with this months Sketch by Sue?  Well I have a little more inspiration for you in the form of out #14 Homegrown Guest Designer.  Please welcome Farrel Taylor.

Hello there! My name is Farrel Tailor and recently my loving husband and gorgeous 3 sons along with myself moved back to my home state of Western Australia. I have been a crafter for about 14 years and started my love of crafts as a card maker which soon turned into scrapbooking once my first son was born.

My style of crafting is what you would call messy! I love all forms of mixed media whether that be on scrapbook layouts, a canvas, cards or art journaling. I love stepping out of my comfort zone and getting my hands messy....I'm not truely happy unless my fingers are stained with glorious colours of inks and sprays!!!

I am very blessed to be apart of some amazing Design Teams which are Scrap The Boys, The Crafter's Workshop, Funky Flairs Studio, Sassy Scrappers and The Dusty Attic.

And here is Farrels take on the sketch...

Another awesome take on the sketch.  Isn't amazing how a sketch can be interpreted so differently.
What do you see?  Make sure you link up. Remember that if you don't have a blog you can still play along by posting it on the wall of the Facebook group.

Thanks Farrel for playing along with us this month.

JULY HOMEGROWN GUEST DESIGNER #13 | DAWN LEWIS

Hi Lovely Scrap the Girls followers,

This month I have a Homegrown Guest Designer that you may recognise from TV...Please welcome Dawn Lewis.

Dawn is a professional crafter, which is exactly as cool as it sounds.

Working out of her home studio, accompanied by Quality Control Kitty, Dawn creates projects for craft magazines, runs an online cardmaking supply store, keeps up with 2 YouTube channels and does some pretty cool freelance design work (including Australian Girl, Semco, Francheville, Milford Threads & DMC to name a few). You may remember her from her days hosting Scrap It TV, Australia's very own papercrafting television show. Dawn teaches craft classes at her local sewing machine centre on the NSW Central Coast, and recently was a speaker at The Artful Business Conference. She believes that craft of any kind is good for the soul, the mind and the hands, and that when you master the basics you can go on to break all the rules!

Here is Dawn's Layout:

And this is what she had to say:
I know you can't tell from the black & white photo ... but the bodice of my wedding dress was red, and my veil was gold. I guess I've always been drawn to unusual things, and my wedding day was going to be no exception to that rule!!! This mood board was just so "me", and I was drawn to the feather motif and deep moody colours, though I did brighten them ... it was a happy occasion afterall 😀 Absolutely every item on this page came from my stash, some pieces are over a decade old, but I love how it all came together. The black, red and cream cardstock is all leftover bazzil from old projects ... nothing goes to waste on my papercrafting desk!!!

Go and check out everything Dawn has been up to...Here are her social media links.

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #12 | WILNA FURSTENBERG

This month's Guest Designer has a very distinct style that is so beautiful and the layout she has produced for this months challenge is no exception.  I just look at it and think WOW! Please welcome Wilna Furstenberg.

Wilna is a neo-expressionistic painter turned scrapbook, digital designer, and Art Journaler who has spent years applying her background in fine arts to her passion for preserving memories. A popular online and in-class teacher, she has honed the fine art of balancing her logical and organized side with her free-spirited expressive side. And she definitely knows how to have fun along the way! Wilna has been working in the Scrapbooking Industry for 11 years and it all started when she was one of 25 winners of the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame in 2006. She designed for Making Memories, Jenny Bowlin, October Afternoon and Two Peas in a Bucket until 2013 when she started her own company called iHeartstudio. Wilna is a popular event teacher at retreats and has been fortunate to teach classes in the US, Canada, South Africa, Spain, Germany and Australia. Here is Wilna's Layout....

How about some close ups too...

And this is how she did it...
"I created this layout as a memory for my birthday this year. I turned 46 and it's a big thank you prayer to God about His love and care in my life. I used a printable from my Primavera collection (http://iheartstudio.ca/miniclass8) and Used a stencil and molding paste to make the texture on the white background. I waited until it was dry and painted over it with watercolors. Lastly I added the flowers and photo and a tiny floral image at the bottom of the page. I love this sketch and I feel you can make many pages using it! thank you so much for inviting me to play along!"

Thank you Wilna. I know this layout has certainly inspired me. I just love it.

Have you linked up yet? Not long to go for the rest of this month and we will announce the Name the Sketch winner.

Remember to link up via the Blog or send your layouts through the Facebook page.

HOMEGROWN GUEST DESIGNER #12 | KIM ARCHER

So, time has gotten away from me this month.  I thought tomorrow was the 20th but nope, turns out it is today.  Today I have some more inspiration for you in the form of our Homegrown Guest Designer.  This month I invited a lady that is responsible for so much inspiration and we rarely see her actual work.  Curious how?  Well, this months Designer is responsible for JOT Magazine.  Please welcome Kim Archer to Scrap the Girls.

"Hey there Scrap the Girls ladies!
I'm Kim Archer, long time paper lover/memory keeper and publisher of Jot Mag. I'm a graphic designer and I've been involved in the paper craft industry since 2004.
I have been fortunate enough to have had lots of opportunities along the way including teaching for stores/online/retreats plus designing product, design teams, regularly creating content for scrapbooking magazines, being part of the For Keeps Elite Team and Scrapbooking Memories Masters Team and building several businesses along the way.
Today my focus is very much on continuing to build Jot as a brand by creating our digital magazine issues, speciality ebooks and working on our Jot blog.
Thanks Krisy for inviting me to be part of your challenge .. It was indeed a challenge as I rarely make scrapbook layouts these days BUT I'm still very much creating as I'm a huge fan of Project Life and I'm tackling the smaller sized 6x8 Project Life album this year which so far is working well for me. Am I all caught up? Nope! But I'm totally okay with that and happy to be adding in our photos and stories when I can!
For this challenge I freaked out at all the flowers on this sketch! I own barely any flowers! So I made my own from paper circles. The layout is 6x8 and will go directly into my Project Life album. I love mixing up full pages like this -- the chance to create some mini layouts -- amongst my pocket pages. Thanks again Krisy for inviting me to be a part of your challenge blog."

And here is Kim's take...

Here are some close ups too...

Thank you so much Kim for playing along with us this month. If you want to check out more of Kim here are all her links.

This layout and the flowers are perfect. The flowers had me stumped at the beginning too. Kim has a really clean style and its so pretty to look at. I hope it inspires you to interpret the sketch how you see it. The flowers don't need to be scary substitute them for something else...Remember its all about interpretation.

Make sure you link up your layouts via the blog or send them through via the Facebook page.

HOMEGROWN GUEST DESIGNER #9 | ANGUREE JANSEN VAN RENSBURG

This month's Homegrown Guest Designer is some one who's work really makes an impact.  When you see her stuff it makes you go WOW!

Please welcome Anguree Jansen Van Rensburg to Scrap the Girls.

"Hello there, my name is Anguree, and I am super excited  to be guesting and playing along with you this month.

I am married to an wonderful guy and live in Darwin, part of Australia's tropical north. We have no children except for a very spoiled Chocolate Labrador.
Fun fact: I love to travel but sometimes my all responsible self gets left behind at home and the crazy 6 year old within me comes along... On one holiday I have bungee jumped with both a pushbike and a scooter. Why, you may ask me? 😮 Uhmm I  wanted the photo... 😉😜

I  started scrapbooking more than 10 years ago but things really only started to click in place late 2013. I had the opportunity to meet some fabulous ladies in our scrapbooking world whose classes I attended and who all guided me in their own special way.  They encouraged me and gave me the tools, knowledge and opportunities to develop and find my true style. I don't know if I found it as yet but what I can tell you is that it's a natural and ongoing process. If you just let go and allow yourself to be you,  your style changes itself. The most important thing is to enjoy what you do and not to limit yourself by creating rules and barriers in terms of what you think you can do or what you should be doing.

Let me give you an example, when I started scrapbooking I said: "I don’t see why someone would go through the effort to make a whole layout just to include one tiny photo... " uhmmm well look who is using little photos now. Another example, I said: " I am a scrapbooker, I don't make OTP projects, they just gather dust and neither am I a cardmaker, I can't think in such small formats... " Urgh really ? Yeah famous last words because I lived to regret them. Thankfully I learned as time went by and discovered that my layouts dont fit in albums so it's no different than doing OTP projects.  I also found a love for making ATC's and cards.

I really hope my story encourages you to challenge yourself and explore the things that you never thought you would or could do. Whether you like clean paper based layouts or mix media,  I want to encourage you to  go and try something different and just give it a chance. You never know what could happen.

Now enough about me, surely you want to get to the fun stuff right? I think you would agree that this month's challenge is totally cool. I have to say I was a little bit worried about the selfie bit. You know when other people takes selfies it looks so awesome but when you do it just looks well... dumb? Well that's me but my gorgeous cousin is one of those girls who have mastered the art of selfies. She just gets it right every time and creates these super model photos just by kidding around and having bit of fun.
I  wanted to capture her funky but all so elegant style so I decided to use blue splats in the background.  To do this I simply mixed a bit of Duke coloured Colour Blast Shimmer powder and stamped it on using a clear plastic wrapper. Berdine also loves her bling so naturally I had to add in a bit of blingy ScrapFX chippy and  steel Coulour Blast paste. To make it pop and add that feminine touch I used tulle, tiny roses and a die-cut in a similar colour as her lip gloss. Quick and simple ☺"

Here is Anguree's take on the challenge:

Material list: Watercolour Paper - Kaszazz, Cardstock - Kaszazz, Chipboard - Scrap FX,  Stamps - Scrap FX, Darkroom Door, Ksszazz, Colour Blast Shimmer Powder, Colour Blast Paste, tulle, Silver pen - PILOT, Sticker Strips - Flutterby Designs, tulle, paper flowers.

Thank you Anguree for taking time to play along with us at Scrap the Girls.

So what do you think?  Have you got your Selfie photo printed yet?  Get on it and make sure you share it.

HOMEGROWN GUEST DESIGNER #8 | EMMA ZAPPONE

Today we welcome our 8th Home Grown Guest Designer to Scrap the Girls.  This ladys style is multi faceted and of course Amazeballs.  She has a way with sketches that shakes things up and makes them her own.  Whether she is turning, shrinking or flipping, you can guarantee it will a fun and interesting layout.  This one is no exception.

Please welcome Emma Zappone!

Hi 👋🏻, I'm Emma and I live in the Clare Valley of South Australia with my hubby and 2 amazing boys. I've been living and breathing Scrapbooking for over 10 years now. I love a challenge and don't really feel I have a specific 'style' as I tend to scrap a little how I feel at the time. But in saying that I do love playing with embellishments....maybe sometimes a little too much 😝

How totally awesome to be asked to join 'Scrap the Girls' as a guest this month! Just a little bit exciting I can tell ya, cos these girls are fab!!

When I saw this amazing sketch my initial reaction was 😱multi photo😱 lol!! But then I thought I can interpret this to suit me and my style!! So, because I like flicking ink and paint around I squished the sketch and pushed it over to the side. Instead of filling the whole page. I wanted it to be bright and a little silly and my subject matter helped this process, these two are my gorgeous friends who were very happy to help me out 😜

'Awesome' the word is also my OLW for the year and I want to use it in as many of my creations this year, it's not just a word, it's the meaning and the believing of this word that I use so much. And I want to believe that what I do is awesome, but I want others to believe they are too!!

A big thanks to Krisy for asking me to be a part of 'STG'.....your awesome ☺
Em xx"

Here are the links to Emma's Media:

What did I tell you.  There is just so much to look at and it all works beautifully together.  Oh and you can totally still see the sketch, right!

Have you linked up yet?  I hope Emma has inspired you to have a go and see what you come up with for this months sketch.

Remember you can always share it on the Facebook wall if you don't have a blog to link up.

INTERNATIONAL GUEST DESIGNER #7 | VERONIQUE GAGNE

It's that time of the month that I get to introduce some new inspiration to you and today it's pretty amazing.  Our #7 International Guest Designer is Veronique Gagne.

I discovered Veronique when she entered our challenge a few months back and couldn't help but invite her to be a guest.  Her work is beautiful and the inspiration from this months moodboard is no execption.  I can't stop looking it.

So rather than just talking about it and Veronique, I'll let Veronique introduce herself.

"Hello everybody!
My name is Veronique (Vero85 on the internet) and I'm from Montreal, Canada.
I'm 31 years old and I live with my boyfriend of the past 12 years and our 2 cats.

I discovered scrapbooking 10 years ago and most of the time I create layouts (sometimes canvas too).
I don't have a particular style as I like to explore but most of the time, my layouts are very vibrant and colorful!
Right now I'm really into sprays, flairs and dies. I can't stop buying those things haha.
This month's moodboard was really beautiful and challenging! It's my favorite kind of contest because I love seeing different interpretations of the same picture!

I've been on a couple of Design Team since my beginning and right now I'm part of the fantastic creative team of Accent Scrapbooking, a Quebec company where you can find lots of beautiful flairs.

You can find me on my blog: http://veroniquegagne.blogspot.ca or on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/vero85g/"

Now for Veronique's amazing layout....

And here are a few close ups...

Thank you so much to Veronique for guesting with Scrap the Girls.  Make sure you at least head over to her Instagram and check out her amazing work.

HOME GROWN GUEST DESIGNER #7 | SKAI MITCHELL

This months Guest Designer burst on to the Scrapbooking scene with a style that was sure to get her noticed.  It grabbed my attention and I just love her work.  I am so excited to share with you this month the work of Skai Mitchell.

"My name is Skai and ive been making things pretty since I could hold a pencil. My art career began in Kindergarten when I began sewing roll call bags on my mother's ancient Husqvarna sewing machine. I studied art all through high school, and for my HSC did 3 unit Visual Arts, Photography, Graphic design and Ceramics and completed a Certificate 2 in Fine Arts at Tafe at the same time 'just for fun'.... l began Uni to be a Arts teacher. Life quickly got put on hold with a whirlwind engagement and pregancy and at 19 found myself a mother with a mortgage.... Fast forward 5 years and the birth of my second child, i found myself wandering into a scrapbooking store looking for glue and quickly was entranced by the pretty papers and embellishments. I began scrapping on and off, but struggled in my early years when Making Memories and 'clean' sticker styles were in vougue. My messy paint splatters, textures and darker imagery wasnt kindly embraced and I went quiet for a few years... In 2015 I went on a whim to a local retreat with Peta from Scrapbooking From scratch and found my 'tribe'.... all these ladies were into Mixed Media, art journalling and messy stuff and it re-ignited my passion again.. Today im fully emerced into mixed media memory keeping, im a self confessed over sharer and document all the good, the bad and the brutally honest parts of my life. I collect black cats and Tattoo's and when im not 'art-ing', I am a Family Daycare Educator to some amazing families and thier children. I live in Lake Macquarie with my 2 children Zane and Trinity-Jewel and my un-husband James (16 years latter and still engaged).... This layout is a personal one for me. I loved the bollywood beauty of it, but it was the title 'once i was lost' that drew me in... here ive used a pretty unflattering pic of me at 17.... dark circles and pale skin and empty eyes that hide the pain and torment I was going through at the time.... by that age id already lived 2 lifetimes and seen and done things ill never put to paper.... but then I found Art through an amazing teacher and it honestly saved me... then and again latter in life through scrapbooking... its plainer and simpler than most of my messy works, but in only a few elements conveys the story it needs to. Thanks for taking the time to read my little story and look and my work. Pop on over to my blog or Instagram and follow my journey there..."

Here is Skai's Layout

This is mixed media Scrapbooking Art at its finest. I'm sure you will agree Skai's art/scrapbooking envokes deep thoughts and feelings. I just love it.
